Mechanics & Tires

While I’ve bought my fair share of tires, I fortunately haven’t had many maintenance problems with my car while here in Abilene. The times I did, I just took it to the dealership to have the problems fixed. (The cost of repair at the dealership here is significantly lower than at my dealership in San Antonio.) Many of my friends have not been nearly as lucky with their maintenance records. These are the mechanic shops they would go back to.

TIRES

 Tom’s Tire World     (673-2523)       701 Oak St.

                                   (692-4708)       151 S. Pioneer

www.TomsTirePros.com

Tom’s guarantees the lowest prices in town on new tires. Tom’s offers financing options on 3/6/12 month increments. Twice I’ve bought tires from them because they were the best price in town and either had my tire in stock or could have it the next day. Tom’s is cheap, fast, and offers lifetime balance/rotation on tires you buy from them. If you order a whole new set of tires, they may go so far as to offer free pick up/delivery of your vehicle. This was voted Abilene’s best tire shop in the local newspaper.

Tom’s offers front end repairs, A/C service, shocks, struts, batteries, as well as electrical and brake repair.

Discount Tire     (695-5269)       2990 Catclaw

Discount Tire is a nationwide company who says they offer the broadest selection of tires and wheels in the nation. They will fix a flat for free—but don’t expect to be a high priority on the waiting list. They flip-flop with Tom’s Tire World for the best prices in town, depending on the day and tire.
