Texas is a big state to begin with. As if that weren't daunting enough, Abilene is located in the heart of what other Texans call “The Big Country.” We have lots of land here, and things can get spread out! If you don’t have a car that can take you where you want to go, try these transportation providers—they should be able to shorten your walk. Airlines American Eagle (800-433-7300) Air service to Dallas and back. Continental Sky West (800-523-3273) Air service to Houston and back.
Busses CityLink 1189 S. 2nd Route info (676-6287) Handi-Van (676-6402) www.abilenetx.com/citylink/main.htm This is Abilene’s public transit system. A free trolley system runs through downtown. Visit the web page for route maps. All routes originate at 1189 S. 2nd and radiate out over the city like the spokes of a wheel. Fare is 75 cents for adults, 55 cents for students, and 35 cents for senior citizens and disabled persons. Transfers are free. Yearly, monthly, and weekly passes are available. No service on Sundays.
Greyhound 535 Cedar (677-8127) Need to get out of town for as little as $29 with someone else behind the wheel? This is your ticket. The station is located just across the street from the Civic Center.
